Location - Manchester

Salary/Package - £45,000 - £65,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

Our client is a well-established and growing UK business with a diverse range of specialist divisions covering construction, concrete, waste management, scaffolding, facilities management and fire systems.

With a strong presence across Manchester and the wider North West, the business has built its reputation around reliability, quality and innovation, delivering practical solutions across a wide range of projects and services.

The business continues to grow and is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Estimator specialising in small works.

As an Estimator - Small Works, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates across a varied portfolio of smaller construction and maintenance works.

You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and the operational team to ensure tenders are priced accurately, commercially and within required timescales.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator who enjoys a varied workload and wants to play an important role within a growing business.

• Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and scopes of work

• Preparing accurate estimates for small works projects

• Producing detailed cost plans and pricing

• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations

• Carrying out quantity take-offs and measuring works

• Building up labour, material, plant and subcontract costs

• Identifying project risks and commercial opportunities

• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive quotations

• Preparing tender submissions and supporting documentation

• Reviewing project requirements and identifying potential value engineering opportunities

• Ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive and commercially viable

• Working closely with the operations and commercial teams

• Assisting with handover of successful tenders to the delivery team

• Maintaining accurate estimating records and cost information

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners

• Supporting the wider commercial team as required

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience working as an Estimator within construction

• Experience pricing small works, refurbishment, maintenance or similar projects

• Strong understanding of construction costs and build-ups

• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications

• Experience obtaining and assessing subcontractor quotations

• Strong commercial awareness

• Excellent attention to detail

• Good negotiation and communication skills

• Strong Excel and general IT skills

• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines

• A proactive and organised approach

• Main contractor or specialist contractor experience would be advantageous

• £45,000 - £65,000 salary + package
