Job Description:

Job Title: Cancer Pathway Tracker/ Admin Medical Laboratory Assistant

Location: Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, SK2 7JE

Hours: Full Time

What you’ll be responsible for:

· Entering patient’s details and other data onto the computer

· General clerical duties associated with the work of the Laboratory, including filing, telephone answering, photocopying etc.

· Performing other miscellaneous duties under supervision and according to protocols laid down.

· Attending mandatory training every two years.

· Observing the provisions of and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.

· Communicating with all levels of staff including senior managers and clinicians.

· Ensuring Pathology diagnostic tests have been correctly identified as “Cancer Pathway” and prioritised accordingly.

· Identifying status of Pathology report and escalate to Team Leaders and reporting Pathologist as appropriate.

· Updating Cancer Services Pathology Escalation spreadsheet as appropriate, ensuring all relevant information is available for the PTL meetings.

· Working closely with cancer services and Cellular Pathology technical and clinical team.

· Ensuring office policy is adhered to, i.e. telephones answered promptly, queries dealt with promptly and being courteous at all times to all members of staff.

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

· IT skills, especially Microsoft office excel.

· Scientific knowledge and background with knowledge in cancer tracker pathways.

· NHS experience.

• Knowledge of the work of a Cellular Pathology department.
• Displays excellent attention to detail
• Good communication skills written and verbal.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
