Tail Lift Fitter – Trafford Park, Manchester

Pay: £15.60 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 44 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

Earning Potential (OTE)

• Hourly Rate: £15.60 per hour
  
  
• Basic Salary: £35,673 per year
  
  
• Overtime Rate: Paid at time-and-a-half (1.5x) – £23.40 per hour
  
  
• With 3 hours overtime per week: + £1,825 per year
  
  
• Realistic OTE: £37,498+ per year
  
  

Overview
We need a qualified Tail Lift Fitter for a specialist coachbuilding team in Trafford Park. You'll handle installation, maintenance, LOLER inspections, and repairs on commercial vehicle tail lifts. No fluff – just solid work on hydraulic and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair column, tuckaway, cantilever, and passenger tail lifts
  
  
• Carry out LOLER inspections and complete all certification to legal standards
  
  
• Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems – wiring, lighting, control circuits
  
  
• Work with hydraulic systems – hose replacement, ram repairs, pump servicing, leak diagnosis
  
  
• Integrate tail lifts into new vehicle builds and conversions with the coachbuilding team
  
  
• Conduct pre-delivery checks to ensure safety, compliance, and full operation
  
  
• Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and compliance docs
  
  
• Follow all health and safety procedures in the workshop
  
  

What You'll Need

• LOLER certification (essential) with proven inspection experience
  
  
• Strong knowledge of vehicle wiring and 12V/24V electrical fault-finding
  
  
• Solid understanding of hydraulic systems and components
  
  
• Previous experience fitting or maintaining tail lifts or similar lifting equipment
  
  
• Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals
  
  
• Full UK driving licence
