Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join an established main contractor delivering a varied portfolio of projects across the North West.

This is a senior appointment for someone who drives design from the front. You will work closely with clients, consultants, commercial teams and site teams to ensure projects are technically robust, buildable and delivered successfully.

As Senior Design Manager, you will take ownership of the design process from pre-construction through to completion, identifying risk early, resolving technical issues and keeping design information moving.

Responsibilities

The Senior Design Manager will:

• Lead design management across residential and healthcare projects, including both large and smaller schemes.

• Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, specialist subcontractors and internal teams.

• Drive design programmes and ensure actions are clearly owned and completed.

• Review drawings and technical information for buildability, compliance and quality.

• Identify design risk early and develop practical solutions before issues reach site.

• Chair design meetings and communicate clearly with clients and project stakeholders.

• Support pre-construction, procurement and delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.

• Travel to sites as required.

About You

You will be an experienced design professional or a strong Design Manager ready to step up. You should have:

• Strong main-contractor design management experience.

• Extensive residential experience across projects of different sizes.

• Healthcare experience, which would be particularly valuable.

• A varied technical background and strong design coordination skills.

• Good knowledge of BIM, Building Regulations and Building Safety requirements.

• A dynamic, proactive approach: you drive design forward rather than wait for others.

• The flexibility to work from Salford and travel to sites when needed.
