Job Description:

Senior Civil Engineer

Our client is looking for a Civil Design Engineer to join their growing multidisciplinary team delivering projects across the water sector.This role is ideal for an engineer with a solid grounding in civil design who is looking to develop their technical capability, take ownership of design tasks and progress towards chartership.You will be involved in the delivery of engineering design from initial concepts through to detailed design, working closely with experienced engineers and project teams to develop safe, efficient and compliant solutions.

As a Senior Civil Engineer you will need to have/be:

Essential

• Up to 5 years’ design experience
• At least 1 year experience within the UK water industry

              Both experience minimums must be met independently — general engineering experience                 

              and water-sector experience do not substitute for one another.

• Degree, HND or significant practical experience from technician level progression
• Experience carrying out hydraulic calculations and preparing hydraulic profiles
• Strong IT and digital design capability
• Registered with a professional engineering institution and working towards chartership
• Experience includes: Owning discrete design tasks; producing specifications, calculations, drawings and schedules under review. Coordination with other disciplines.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer status
• Experience across clean water and wastewater projects
• Experience delivering infrastructure and non-infrastructure designs
• Experience working on outline and detailed design stages
• Awareness of construction methods and materials
• Knowledge of engineering drawing practices
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Details:

Salary: up to £65k depending on experience and working arrangements

Up to £500 per day outside IR35 including agency fee, depending on experience and working arrangements

Working Hours: Mon-Fri

Location: Manchester / Flexible around remote/Hybrid working

Duration: Permanent or Contract

Role of Senior Civil Engineer:

As a Civil Design Engineer, you will support the delivery of engineering design across a range of water and wastewater projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing design deliverables that meet safety, quality and regulatory requirements
• Preparing civil engineering calculations, drawings and technical documentation
• Developing efficient and practical design solutions based on project scopes and site information
• Directing and supporting CAD technicians
• Preparing design risk assessments, reports and technical specifications
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant technical standards, professional guidance and water company specifications
• Ensuring project design changes are properly implemented and recorded
• Working in accordance with established design processes and procedures
• Assisting with estimating design hours and supporting project planning
• Attending and contributing to design meetings and presentations
