Our client, a successful, stable & established company based in the Stockport area, is seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger specialist to join their small finance function and become a key member of their finance family!!
Your new role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership and making a real impact. You will have full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the purchase ledger, ensuring supplier payments are processed accurately and on time while maintaining strong working relationships across the business.

Working within a close-knit team, you'll enjoy a varied role that goes beyond traditional purchase ledger duties, with involvement in stock management, month-end activities, and providing support to the wider finance function. This position would suit a proactive individual who takes pride in delivering accurate work, improving processes, and keeping the department running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the end-to-end purchase ledger process.
• Process, code, and match supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Record purchases (stock) and maintain accurate stock records within the system.
• Reconcile supplier statements and investigate any discrepancies if they arise.
• Prepare and process supplier payment runs..
• Maintain accurate supplier account records.
• Handle supplier queries in a personable & professional manner, building positive working relationships.
• Assist with month-end processes, including reconciliations and accruals.
• Support the Finance Manager and wider finance team with reporting and record keeping.
• Quarterly stock reconciliations.
• Adhoc office finance assistance.

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position.
• Experience working with stock systems or stock control processes would be advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Confident using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Able to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
• A proactive and organised approach, with a willingness to take ownership and suggest improvements.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and colleagues.

• The position is Full Time 9am-5.00pm, however Part Time working option will be considered ie - 9am-3.00pm/(phone number removed)pm should this be a preference.
