Operations Engineer
Location: Leatherhead, Surrey

Hours: Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm | Weekend & out-of-hours call-outs on a rota
I’m currently working with an established business within the power generation and energy sector who are looking to recruit an experienced Operations Engineer to join their growing team in Leatherhead.
This is a great opportunity for a skilled mechanical or electrical engineer with strong experience working on gas and diesel engines, looking to join an established organisation operating across the UK and internationally.
The role will involve carrying out scheduled and reactive maintenance across customer installations, diagnosing faults, improving system performance and helping customers optimise the efficiency and reliability of their power generation assets.

The Role

• Carrying out scheduled maintenance on customer installations
• Responding to reactive maintenance and breakdowns
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• Carrying out repairs and remedial works
• Supporting the operation and optimisation of customer installations
• Identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency and reliability
• Working to reduce downtime and unnecessary use of time and materials
• Ensuring customer satisfaction is maintained
• Providing technical support and guidance to customers
• Working safely and in accordance with company procedures
• Completing service reports and relevant technical documentation
• Supporting other engineers and operational teams where required
• Participating in an established 24-hour call-out rota
• Carrying out weekend and out-of-hours work when required

The ideal candidate will have a strong practical engineering background, ideally within power generation, engines, industrial engineering, automotive or a similar environment.
You’ll ideally have:

• ONC, NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Motor Vehicle Studies or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ industrial mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience
• Strong practical knowledge of gas and/or diesel engines
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and customer-facing skills
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• A proactive approach with the ability to work independently
• Full, valid UK driving licence
• Flexibility to participate in a 24-hour call-out rota
