Job Description:

We are working with a growing business within the construction equipment and hire sector who are looking to recruit a customer-focused and highly organised Hire Controller / Account Manager.

This is a varied role combining customer account management, hire coordination and administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, understanding their requirements and ensuring the smooth coordination of hire equipment and services.

A background within the construction industry is essential. You will need to understand construction terminology and be confident communicating with construction professionals, including site managers, contractors and trade customers.

Previous hire controller or plant/tool hire experience would be advantageous, but candidates with a construction background in administration, sales support or customer account management will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and developing relationships with existing construction customers.

• Handling incoming enquiries and understanding customers' equipment and hire requirements.

• Processing hire orders, coordinating equipment availability, deliveries and collections.

• Preparing quotations and managing customer accounts.

• Acting as a key point of contact for customer queries and resolving issues efficiently.

• Liaising with site teams, suppliers, drivers and internal colleagues.

• Maintaining accurate hire records, paperwork and administration.

• Identifying opportunities to develop existing accounts and generate additional business.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines a good understanding of the construction industry with excellent customer service and organisational skills.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working within the construction industry is essential.

• Experience in a customer-facing role, ideally account management, sales coordination or customer service.

• A good understanding of construction terminology and confidence communicating with construction professionals.

• Strong administration and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.

• Confident communication skills and the ability to build lasting customer relationships.

• Good IT skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• A proactive, personable and commercially aware approach.

Previous experience within plant hire, tool hire or equipment hire would be a significant advantage, although it is not essential.
